I share the house with a very affectionate Burmese cat called Kasia, so you would have to love cats! Your own private bedroom is on the first floor of the house. It is a bright, sunny and comfortable carpeted single room with a window overlooking the garden. It has a single bed, a desk, plenty of shelving space for books, hanging space for your clothes and a chest of drawers. |

You wouldnt be in your room a lot of the time as the house is very spacious and can accommodate everyone easily. On the same floor as your room there is a shower room and toilet/combined utility room with washing machine and hanging space to dry clothes. |

The second bathroom, adjacent to my bedroom in the attic, is for my personal use. On the first floor is also a second smaller bedroom, it overlooks the street and is for friends. The kitchen/dining area is a lively room and usually the focus of the house. The kitchen leads into a beautiful living room with an open fire place (used frequently) and 3 French windows that take you onto a private patio with a gate that access the garden. On warm evenings we can sit outside or take our meals on the patio. |

You will see that we have an exceptionally lovely garden for London, with lots of trees, a river and fields across the other side of the water with a golf course and a magnificent viaduct built by a famous English Engineer called Brunel. The viaduct carries the trains from a London Station called Paddington towards Cornwall. The area is surrounded by parks, river and canals and offers wonderful facilities for walking. The street is nice and quiet, there is a special gate that separates our residential area from the traffic on the main road and therefore the only traffic is that of people living here. I have lovely neighbours and in the house, across the street, lives my friend and colleague, Barry Morgan. Barry is also an English teacher married to a French lady called Dominique and we sometimes help each other with our teaching programme. We are planning occasional outings, meals, socialising etc. as joint families events which would introduce you to different people, accents, situations and make it a more interesting and challenging stay. |

| As you can tell I am an outgoing and friendly person who
would teach you in a lively manner that would encourage you to speak and
become confident in everyday general English. I love entertaining and cooking
and you would have the opportunity of meeting many of my English friends.
I prefer eating vegetarian dishes (though I love and eat fish still) but
I dont mind cooking chicken or any meat you would like to eat. I always
use organic products and provide lots of vegetables, salads and fruits.
I also bake my own bread. It goes without saying that we eat our meals together,
it is a social occasion and the best conversations usually take place at
the table!
I am a qualified neuroscientist (hence the Dr title) and used to work in Medical Research (Multiple Sclerosis) until I qualified to teach English. I then decided to open my home to welcome people such as yourself and to help them learn English, a language which I adore and enjoy teaching. I have one request: Please, could you possibly abstain from smoking during your stay, both within the house and its immediate vicinity. If you must smoke, I will beg you to smoke at the bottom of the garden or on the street. |
